Location of and Distance between Pokhara and Chitwan

Pokhara Location: Pokhara is located in Kashki District, Gandaki Pradesh Province, about 200 km west of Kathmandu - the capital of Nepal.

Chitwan Location: Chitwan is a district located on Nepal's western Terai and southeast of Pokhara. Chitwan National Park, the premier attraction of Chitwan, is located in Bharatpur - the capital city of Chitwan District, about 170 km away from west Kathmandu. Generally, “Chitwan” always refers to Chitwan National Park for travelers.

Pokhara to Chitwan National Park Distance: The linear distance between Pokhara and Chitwan National Park is about 120 kilometers (75 miles) and the driving distance between them is about 150 kilometers (93 miles)..

Option 1: Pokhara to Chitwan National Park by Flight

Travel Time: 10 minutes' Flight + 50 minutes' Drive

Step 1: Pokhara to Bharatpur Flight

There is one daily flight operating from Pokhara Airport to Bharatpur Airport and one daily flight from Bharaptur to Pokhara, which allow you to travel between Pokhara to Chitwan efficiently and comfortably. The whole flying trip takes only 10 minutes, so a lot of time can be saved for your sightseeing and jungle activity in Chitwan National Park.

Step 2: Bharatpur Airport to Chitwan National Park Driving

After you land on Bharatpur Airport, you can easily take a taxi to your hotel. Chitwan National Park is 20 km away from Bharatpur Airport and it needs about 50 minutes to drivel between Them. On your driving journey to Chitwan National Park, peaceful Tharu villages and charming rural scenery can be appreciated.

Option 2: Travel from Pokhara to Chitwan by Tourist Bus

It is also available to take a tourist bus as well. The tourist buses start from Pokhara Tourist Bus Park and arrive at Bachhauli Tourist Bus Park which is just north of Sauraha - the tourist camp of Chitwan National Park. Usually the driving takes about 5 hours, but the bus will stop several times for meals and toilet breaks. The tourist bus is always air-conditional and equipped with soft-cushioned seats.

There are also local buses running between Pokhara and Chitwan National Park but they are not recommended to foreigner travelers. These buses are always overloaded and uncomfortable. Usually, it takes more than 6 hours to reach Chitwan National Park.

Option 3: Travel from Pokhara to Chitwan by Private Driving

Travel Time: about 5 hours
